Thon committees travel to Harrisburg
A dance marathon promotion sponsored by the 1998 Interfraternity
Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon will be held from noon to 5
p.m. tomorrow at the Colonial Park Mall in Harrisburg. Thon committee
will also be selling promotional items and canning for donations,
Overall Dance Marathon Chairman Todd Waltman said.
Along with the dance marathon committees, there will be clowns,
jugglers and a local disc jockey to entertain the public and also
the children from the Four Diamonds Fund families, Overall Public
Relations Chairwoman Emily Sharretts said.
The Thon committee is trying to target a different part of Pennsylvania,
Sharretts said. They are bringing the dance marathon to residents
in Harrisburg so that they can experience the event for themselves,
she said.
This is the first time that dance marathon committees have held
a promotion in Colonial Park Mall, Overall Marketing Chairman
Brian Newmark said.
Newmark said athletes from various University team sports and
the University cheerleaders may attend to show their support for
Thon.
Lori Schwartz, overall morale chairwoman, said the morale committee
will be there in full force.
"The morale committee creates and performs a skit two times
during the mall promotion," Schwartz said. "In addition,
we perform the line dance and generally, pump up the crowd."
