Preliminary Hearings
BELLEFONTE -- District Justice Bradley Lunsford bound over Scott
Eugene Wellar for charges of two counts of simple assault, one
count of terroristic threats, two counts of recklessly endangering
another individual and two counts of harassment yesterday, according
to court documents.
The charges are a result of a Nov. 15 incident when the victim
arrived with three children at 5050 S. Eagle Valley Road, Julian,
Pa., the residence of her husband. Wellar, the defendant, and
his estranged wife, the victim, have been separated for about
two months.
After unloading groceries and removing clothes from the bedroom
while the three children played outside, the victim attempted
to exit through the back door and was stopped by Wellar, according
to court documents. At that time Wellar pulled a handgun from
behind his back and pointed it in the victim's face, dragging
her by the neck to the bedroom where he threw her on the floor,
according to court documents. He said "he would blow her
away," according to court documents.
At this point a child entered the residence, interrupting the
scene, and Wellar dropped his gun and went to look for the child
in the kitchen before returning to the bedroom, according to court
documents. After the victim attempted to get the handgun away
from Wellar, the child came into the residence and the victim
was able to leave, according to court documents.
