Inner Loop to link main roads
FERGUSON TOWNSHIP--A project that would connect West College Avenue
and North Atherton Street was discussed last night at an open
meeting at the Ferguson Township Municipal Building.
The Western Inner Loop will link West College Avenue and North
Atherton Street by extending Blue Course Drive to Clinton Avenue.
The new roadway will start as a two-lane road and will eventually
be widened to five-lane capacity, said Barry Schoch, a representative
of McCormick, Taylor & Associates Inc., the company handling
the research and planning.
Although funding for the construction has not been secured yet,
Ron Seybert, director of public works for Ferguson Township, said
if everything goes according to schedule the new loop will be
completed by the summer of 2000. Until now, funding has been coming
from township taxes, Seybert said.
Included in the proposal are plans for a bicycle path that would
parallel the Western Loop.
