Outgoing Panhellenic Council President Kearsi Page passed the
presidency on to Meghan Walsh last night by pinning her with a
PHC pin.
"I know the women very well and I just know that they're
going to do an awesome job," Page said.
Walsh and other executive officers were inducted last night. Walsh
said she is looking forward to working with her executive council
in order to further their goals for PHC.
Christina Demaree, the PHC secretary/treasurer said she was excited
to begin one of her major projects, which is to present the 1998
PHC Budget to the chapter presidents and delegates. A budget detailing
the delegation of PHC funds presented to all the chapters and
their members has never been passed before, she said.
"I'm very excited," Angela Schenck said about her position
as the PHC executive vice president. "I have a lot of goals
for the year. I want to raise the academic standards and get more
integrated with the other organizations at this University."
Stephanie Sanderson, PHC administrative vice president said she
is excited about working with the Greek community.
"I am thrilled and honored to have this opportunity,"
Sanderson said.
Members of the Interfraternity Council as well as the National
Pan-Hellenic Council were present at the PHC induction ceremony.
"I've met a few members around the (IFC/PHC) office and they
seem as enthused as (NPHC Co-President Sabrina Kum) and I are
about furthering our ties and working collaboratively on some
of our common issues," said Hakim Washington, co-president
of the NPHC.
Walsh said she is expecting the year ahead to be filled with challenges
but that she and other members of the executive council are ready
to take on their positions.
"I feel excited," Walsh said. "We've been thinking
and planning for the past month and we're definitely ready."
The other new PHC officers are Michele D'Angelo, vice president
of programming, Ashlie Hauck, vice president of public relations,
Jami Totten, vice president of standards, and Liz Schwarzbach,
vice president of membership.
