Panhellenic sets goals
Panhellenic Council President Meghan Walsh has set personal goals
for PHC -- goals she hopes to reach in cooperation with others.
"My own personal goal as president is to be available to
all the (chapter) presidents and the chapter members," Walsh
said. "I want myself to be used as a resource to chapters
and their members."
Walsh said no goals have been formally set by the Panhellenic
President's Council.
"This year, we are focusing on developing a future vision
as a council," Walsh said. "We're not only looking at
1998, we're looking five, 10 or 20 years into the future of the
Greek community."
PHC is planning to develop a strong foundation in order to provide
higher standards in the Panhellenic community, Walsh said.
"To me, Panhellenic is based on organization that is founded
and built upon traditional concepts like scholarship, friendship,
integrity and leadership," Walsh said. "I think that
one of the things I appreciate most about Panhellenic is alone,
we are individuals with diverse strengths and talents, but together,
we motivate and encourage one another to achieve all our goals
and follow our dreams."
Walsh said although she is president of PHC, she alone cannot
realize these goals.
"I don't want to work by myself," Walsh said. "I
don't want to put myself above anyone because I have a great deal
of support from Panhellenic vice presidents and chapter presidents
and we're all collaborating together to develop a stronger Greek
community."
Walsh said she hopes she will have the ability to help all the
chapter presidents with everything and anything they need, she
said.
"I'm sure mistakes will be made; however, it will be a learning
experience for all of us; 1998 will hopefully be one of the best
years that the Greek community has seen in a long time,"
Walsh said. "I'm looking forward to working with the students
and faculty as well as community members to do what's best for
everyone involved."
