Girl reports suspicious man

HARRIS TOWNSHIP -- A report of suspicious activity has the State College Police Department asking local residents for help.

At about 10 a.m. Friday, a 12-year-old reported a suspicious incident involving a maroon van with a gray bumper and tinted windows which was parked in a private lane on U.S. Route 322 near her school bus stop, according to a news release from State College police.

As the 12-year-old walked toward the van, which contained two occupants, a white man about 30 years old exited the passenger side and approached the child, according to the news release. The 12-year-old became alarmed and ran to a neighbor's house, according to the news release.

The man who exited the vehicle chased the child for a short distance before stopping, according to the news release.

The child ran to her home and called for help, according to the news release.

Anyone with information about the incident or who may have seen this vehicle should call the State College Police Department at 234-7150.
