Sprinkler activation brings Alpha Fire Co. to Allenway

At about 6:50 p.m. yesterday evening, the Alpha Fire Co. answered a call at Allenway, 315 S. Allen St., said Alpha Fire Co. Assistant Chief Stan Clouser.

"No fire was found," Clouser said. "There was a lot of water in the courtyard area."

The fire company, he said, could not locate the source which tripped the alarm that spurred the sprinkler system to begin pouring water into the enclosed courtyard area.

"We're not even sure why the sprinklers went off," Clouser said.

The investigation was completed last night and the maintenance crew was on site after the alarms reset to clean up the sprinkler water, he said, adding that the building was evacuated.
