New column will appear every other Wednesday

When is it appropriate to take a leave of absence and how do you apply for one? What is the procedure for taking a course at another school and transferring the credits to Penn State? Do you have questions about University-wide academic policies or procedures? Ask the adviser!

Beginning Feb. 1, The Daily Collegian's new "Ask the Adviser" column will appear every other Wednesday on page 3. E-mail your questions now to DUS@psu.edu and specify that you would like them to be answered in the column.

Provided by the Division of Undergraduate Studies (DUS), "Ask the Adviser" is not intended to replace regular contact with your academic adviser. It will not address questions about a particular college, nor will it comment on specific classes or professors.

Questions will be printed anonymously and may be edited. Because of space limitations, the column may not be able to address every question submitted. DUS advisers will answer those that are of interest to a wide audience or are particularly important for other reasons.

If you do not receive a response to your question, stop by the DUS office in the lobby of Grange Building during regular business hours, when you can speak to an adviser on a first-come, first-served basis. Do not address questions to The Daily Collegian.
