Enis, Jurevicius can learn from experience
Having just read the news on Mr. Enis and Mr. Jurevicius, I am
reflecting on the feelings of these young men.
At this point in their lives, they may mostly feel the impact
of living with the negative impact that their actions have had
on their teammates and the University community that has supported
them.
However, there is a much more significant and more personal lesson
to be learned from this experience. That is, the loss of personal
integrity.
It takes a long time to build a positive reputation for personal
integrity, and it can be even more difficult to regain, once lost.
In these days of large sports contracts for the "stars,"
in many cases, integrity seems to take a back seat. However, five
or 10 years later, they all too often, and too late, learn that
for the rest of their lives the real glory can only be maintained
through strong personal integrity.
Let's hope that these men learn from these unfortunate incidents,
and can move forward positively from this low point.
