Two campuses of the Commonwealth College will receive new campus
executive officers this semester, according to a news release
from the department of public information.
Gary Keefer, acting CEO at the Beaver Campus since July, will
assume the position permanently Jan. 15, according to the release.
John Madden, director of academic affairs at the York Campus and
acting associate dean for faculty for the Commonwealth College,
will become the CEO for the Hazleton Campus in early spring, according
to the release.
Keefer has been the director of academic affairs and a professor
of engineering at the Beaver Campus since 1996, according to the
release.
"Having served as the acting CEO for the last several months
and as the director of academic affairs during the previous year,"
said Joseph Strasser, dean of the Commonwealth College, in the
news release, "Dr. Keefer has an excellent understanding
of the campus and the direction that it needs to go."
Madden, who will not assume his position until a search for a
new associate dean for faculty for the Commonwealth College is
completed, was previously an assistant professor of psychology,
according to the release.
"Dr. Madden has received widespread support from the Hazleton
Campus family and the campus advisory board," Strasser said
in the release. "I am delighted that a leader of his capabilities
and experiences . . . will be Hazleton's next CEO."
