Students lobby for human rights in Turkey For the last few weeks, students in the Penn State chapter of Amnesty International have been driving to Washington, D.C., to talk to Pennsylvania legislators about human rights violations. Spring brings senior scams Seemingly ambitious contractors go door-to-door pretending they are looking for homes that need their driveways sealed, roofs repaired or insulation installed. But Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar said they are really on the lookout for an easy mark. OPP clogs up University's water waste problem Although paper, aluminum and newspaper may be more commonly recycled items, the University's Office of Physical Plant has one more item for the list -- water. Centre County bans outdoor burning April showers have not been forthcoming in Centre County, resulting in tinderbox conditions and anti-wildfire measures. Last week the Centre County Commissioners banned all campfires, outdoor cooking fires and burning brush and rubbish, according to a news release. Red Cross awards donors with prizes The student dressed up as a giant red blood drop walking around East Halls passing out fliers yesterday was determined to encourage others to donate what he needed four years ago. Lady Ruggers need focus for nationals The last time the Penn State women's rugby team played an experienced, talented women's side, it was clobbered, 47-7, by the Maryland Stingers. Lady sluggers go on the road again hoping for another Big Ten win Road trips are one of the diversions many college students enjoy. They remember their experiences from them for a lifetime. Rowers earn first ever Big Ten Regatta medal The Penn State crew team reached yet another milestone as it won its first medal in Big Ten competition. Three trackwomen qualify for nationals It was a tale of two cities for the Lady Lions' track team last weekend -- namely Knoxville, TN and Shippensburg, PA -- as the team split itself in two in order to participate in two different competitions.
