North Halls re-invents woodstock
Spring is in the air. And tomorrow the smells of cotton candy
and the music of 10 bands will fill the air as the annual Northstock
festival begins.
Northstock will be held from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. tomorrow, rain
or shine, at the North Halls basketball courts.
The festival consists of a free outdoor concert which features
nine local bands.
Students can also participate in free tie-dying and test their
skills in basketball and volleyball tournaments.
While students are eating their fill of free cotton candy and
sno-cones, they can also have their future told through free tarot
card readings.
"Northstock is a spring festival that is a way to get people
outside and listen to some local bands," said Erin Reinhart,
vice president of the North Halls Association of Students.
"It's a lot of fun and it's free!" he added.
The bands featured include Some People, Marner, Christian Science
A.D., 2000 Flushes, Fool, 3E, Windigo, Finster, Soul Cherry, and
the headliner from Baltimore, The Candy Machine.
To satisfy hunger, hot dogs will be sold for 25 cents. For souvenirs,
student can buy T-shirts with the Northstock design and band names
for $5.
Northstock is sponsored by the North Halls Association of Students
and the Student Activity Fee.
Each housing area of the campus will hold its own spring festival.
South, Pollock and Centre Halls are sponsoring Quadzilla on April
12.
East Halls will present Fest on April 19 and West is sponsoring
Wild, Wild West on April 19.
