Graduate association elects officers
Graduate Student Association leadership changed hands Tuesday
night with the election of new officers in a special session held
after the association's general meeting.
Jill Bush (graduate-kinesiology) was elected president of GSA
and Kristin Chaudoin (graduate-speech communications) was elected
vice president.
As president, Bush said she would like to increase visibility
of GSA and improve communication among graduate students.
"There are some graduate students that don't know we exist
and that's a problem," she said.
Working to increase the connections among graduate students through
the departments and through E-mail are methods Bush said she would
like to use.
"Communication is very important," she said. "Things
get misread or mislead without communication."
Bush has been the Graduate Council representative to the executive
board of GSA for one year and has been with GSA for two years,
outgoing GSA President Julie Ann Bubolz said.
"Under Jill's leadership, I think this new group will continue
forward," Bubolz said.
Erik Malewski (graduate-higher education) and Liza Ann Acosta
(graduate-comparative literature) were elected as treasurer and
executive secretary respectively.
In addition, five Graduate Council representatives, four University
Faculty Senators and one representative to the University Park
Allocation Committee were elected. The new officers will assume
their new positions on April 8.
