Man builds explosive device, starts apartment kitchen fire
Police responding to a reported kitchen fire yesterday arrested
a 22-year-old man for attempting to manufacture an explosive device
in his apartment, the Ferguson Township Police Department said.
Douglas Bayly of 303 Vairo Blvd. was arrested for Recklessly Endangering
and Causing or Risking a Catastrophe, police said.
Bayly was attempting to manufacture an explosive device by mixing
substances together when it exploded with intense heat and caused
minor damage to the apartment, police said. The fire extinguished
itself quickly, police said.
Personnel from University Police Services and Alpha Fire Co. assisted
at the scene, police said.
No one was injured in the incident.
