Local Candidates
Attorney Alan F. Kirk, of Patton Township, announced his judicial
candidacy Feb. 18 for the Centre County Court of Common Pleas.
Kirk is an associate in the firm Kriner, Koerber & Kirk, in
Clearfield. He runs a general civil practice which includes general
litigation and family law, but his emphasis is environmental law
and land use.
"I was concerned that Centre County was going to need a strong
judicial leader and I thought I was able to provide that leadership,"
Kirk said.
A Centre County resident for 10 years, Kirk received his bachelor's
degree from the University.
He earned his juris doctor degree from the New England School
of Law, and has practiced law for 15 years.
Kirk is a former Clearfield County district attorney and his professional
activities include lecturing for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
Community activities include his membership in the Board of Trustees
of Mount Aloysius Junior College.
He stressed fairness and traditional values as assets he would
bring to the bench.
"I think that those issues are very important and are going
to be emphasized by me if I am elected judge," Kirk said.
The two candidates who receive the most votes in the May 20th
primary will continue onto the general elections in November.
