Attorney announces his candidacy for county judge

Attorney Amos Goodall announced Tuesday his candidacy for judge in the Centre County Court of Common Pleas.

"I think that it is important that a judge be connected to the community that surrounds the court," Goodall said.

Goodall has handled cases for the Court of Common Pleas for 21 years. He runs a general trial practice at Goodall & Associates, 323 S. Atherton St., where his cases range from relatively minor offenses to capital prosecution.

Goodall has a history of involvement in the community. Offices he has held include solicitor for Centre County Youth Services Bureau, and chairman of the Child Development Council. His current offices include the solicitor of Harris Township. He also estimates that he represents more than 50 different nonprofit organizations in the area.

He earned a bachelor's degree from Franklin and Marshall College. He graduated from the Fordham University School of Law with a juris doctorate degree in 1974.

Professional organizations include an appointment to the Judicial Inquiry and Review Board, which covers the prosecution of judges for ethical violations.

"I believe that because of my investment in the community and training and experience, I have unique qualities that will serve me well in the Centre County Court of Common Pleas," Goodall said. "I think judges should be connected to the community he is serving in, and I believe I am."

The two candidates who receive the most votes in the May 20th primary will continue to campaign for the November elections.
