Video Voyeurs

Scope-an-inch says:

Collegian performing arts reporter David Scopinich arose to the challenge of reviewing one of the newest releases, Pocahotass

When Disney presented the animated feature film about a young Native American woman named Pocahantas, some people complained the writers may have Disneyized the story just a bit.

Well, they don't have to worry about any Disneyization in Michael Carpenter's Pocahotass, which features adult film stars such as T.T. Boy, Celine DeVoux, Paul Cox and the legendary Peter North.

Like many pornos (uhh, so I hear), the plot of Pocahotass is a simple one. There is a costume party in the evening, and people with no jobs (other than North's character) have wild sex during the day. Sort of like Halloween in State College.

The movie begins with some run-of-the-mill girl-girl scenes, but things heat up as T.T. Boy is brought into the fray. I can't tell you how many times I heard the phrase, "That's gotta hurt" from fellow reviewer Kristin during T.T.'s performance.

Boy's character was fighting with his girlfriend about trying on a cupid costume for the party. She tries to "convince" Boy to try the costume on by giving him a blowjob and letting him have anal sex with her -- hence the title.

After Boy is finished, his girlfriend asks him once again to try on his costume. To this, he said some very demeaning things to his girlfriend. Good taste -- by the editors, not me -- prevents me from writing what he said. Needless to say, Boy is probably not a favorite among the female viewers of porn (I know there are some out there).

The movie takes a turn for the better when adult film legend Peter North is introduced. North, a cultural icon of sorts among college-age men, is affectionately known as "Longshot" in some circles -- including a certain group of sports writers I happen to know. If I have to explain the reason he got the nickname, you may want to stop reading.

North did not disappoint. His scenes were the highlight of an otherwise average porn. Much to the dismay of Kristin and her roommates -- who watched along with us -- North demonstrated his penchant for longshots on his girlfriend's facial area.

North did show his sensitive side after he finished by telling his girlfriend he would miss her while he was at work. Kristin and her roommates seemed more pleased with North saying, "Now see, Peter's nice," unlike Boy.

Although North's scenes were entertaining, the film was mildly erotic at best. We even decided to fast-forward some of the more repetitive scenes. The film did make the most of its props, as water guns and feathers were used as erotic tools. And it was interesting the men felt it necessary to wear sunglasses as they went about their business, even though one guy was inside.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that pornographic films are cheesy. Now don't get me wrong, because they can be very entertaining from a comedic standpoint, but I found I wasn't exactly turned on very much by Pocahotass.

I think once a person views one or two pornos, he or she finds they are all the same. However, I did find it interesting to watch a porn with female viewers because I was able to see different reactions.

For instance, during North's final scene, he and Paul Cox climaxed on a woman's face. When I watched with the women, they seemed disgusted by this and said there is no way that could be satisfying for the woman.

The next day, I watched the final scene with some men who are big fans of North (I won't mention any names to protect the innocent). When the men were watching the final scene, they broke out into intense laughter at the facial cumshots. And for the record, I was laughing right along with them, so don't think I am trying to embarrass them at all.

I guess women and men will always view pornography differently, but I think everyone should realize that pornography, although it's not tasteful, is a legitimate form of entertainment that Americans spend millions of dollars on each year. I personally don't believe it harms anyone, unless children somehow get their hands on it.

People could say pornography is not a good advocate of safe sex or high morals, but if any people actually base their sexual habits on the lifestyles portrayed in pornos, in my opinion, they have much bigger problems than just watching adult videos.
