IFC elects officers, president
The Interfraternity Council elected three new officers to fill
positions on the 1997 council at its meeting last night at Kappa
Sigma fraternity, 255 Highland Ave.
Gordon Savage, member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, 508 Locust
Lane, was elected IFC president.
"I have a plan, a vision," Savage said. "It's intact
and now it's time to move it into reality."
The position of administrative vice president was also filled
at last night's meeting. Craig Newman, member of Alpha Epsilon
Pi fraternity, 225 E. Foster Ave., was elected to fill the position.
"I don't think of this job as a guy in a suit and tie making
the rules for you guys to follow like lap dogs," Newman said
as he spoke about the responsibilities of the administrative vice
president.
Kris McBride, member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity, 234 E. Beaver
Ave., will serve as treasurer in the next year.
McBride said he hopes to assist a group that already knows what
it wants to do.
Steve Gordon, the current IFC president, said he was pleased with
each of the candidates' performances during the nomination and
campaign period. IFC has dealt with many issues during the past
year, Gordon said. With the election of new officers, he said,
IFC is taking the next big step forward.
Students elected to office will be installed as officers at the
Feb. 24 meeting at Delta Sigma Phi fraternity.
