But after losing to No. 25 Illinois, 94-79, added with a tough home loss to Northwestern on Friday, Penn State (11-9, 4-6 Big Ten) may have lost what little grasp it had. Cagers improve, but can't knock off Purdue As the clock ran down, all eyes focused on Penn State 3-point deity Pete Lisicky. Spikers lack fire in wins The No. 4 Penn State men's volleyball team (7-1) dropped the first two games in its match against Rutgers-Newark (3-7) and quickly fell behind, 6-2, in game three. Gealey helps rally spikers to victory Coach Mark Pavlik could have hit the panic button Saturday night. His No. 4 Nittany Lions were close to losing for the second time this season to a team three games under .500. Pavlik needed an answer. Grapplers annihilate Panthers, Hoosiers Match after match this season, without reference to the outcome, coaches and members of the Penn State wrestling team have stated the team as a whole did not wrestle to its full potential. Swimmen regain confidence, halt losing streak with victory over LaSalle For the Penn State men's swimming and diving teams, losing three out of its last four meets entering Friday's dual meet with LaSalle left many observers wondering which Nittany Lion team would show up. Freshmen step up to lead Illini This season, there is a whole team joining Ashley Berggren and coach Theresa Grentz in their effort to restore Illinois to the top of the Big Ten. Trackmen swallowed by Tigers The Princeton men's indoor track team received strong performances from Holland Gary and Jim Colling as it defeated Penn State and Penn Saturday in New Jersey.
