  • Accident: Mark Kimmel, 31, of Soystown, broke his leg as a result of a snowmobile accident late Saturday night, the State College Police Department said.

    Kimmel was a passenger on a snowmobile driven by Frank Duca, 39, of Johnstown. After pulling out onto Bear Meadows Road near Tussey Mountain Ski Area on Rt. 322, the snowmobile hit a bridge abutment. Duca was issued a citation for operating a snowmobile on roads or highways, police said.


  • Arson: A fire alarm was received yesterday for the fourth floor of Weaver Building, University Police Services said. The Alpha Fire Co. was summoned and an investigation revealed that an unidentified person had placed paper in a microwave oven in 404 Weaver, and then had left the area, University police said.

    The value of the damage is unknown.


  • Criminal Mischief: A Pollock Halls housing employee reported yesterday that someone damaged a mirror and soap dispenser located in the sixth floor restroom of Shunk Hall, University police said. Two elevators also had graffiti etched into their panels, police said. The time the incidents occurred is unknown.

    The value of the damage is unknown.


  • Health and Safety: Dennis Kasic, an employee of the State College Bus Terminal, 152 N. Atherton St., reported yesterday morning that a man attacked a Greyhound Bus driver that day with a guitar when the driver refused to take him to Memphis, Tenn., without a ticket, State College Police said.

    The assailant was taken to Centre Community Hospital for psychiatric evaluation police said.


  • Theft: A University student reported Friday that his vehicle was stolen from Lot 83 North sometime between Jan. 19 and Jan. 31, University police said.

    The estimated value of the vehicle is $3,600.

CORRECTION:: The location of the theft was incorrectly identified. The correct location appears to the right.

  • Theft: Jon-David Ostrow of Beta Theta Pi fraternity, 220 N. Burrowes Rd., reported Friday that his laptop computer was stolen from his room while it was left unattended that night, State College police said.

    The estimated value of the computer is $2,500.


  • Theft: A visitor to the campus reported yesterday that two jackets were stolen from his vehicle on Wednesday, University police said.

    The estimated value of the jackets is $375.


  • Theft: A visitor to the campus reported yesterday the theft of camera equipment from the HUB Ballroom that day, University police said.

    The equipment is worth $280.


  • Theft: An employee of the Nittany Lion Inn, 200 W. Park Ave., reported the theft of a coat, a wallet and cash yesterday, University police said. The incident occurred earlier that day, police said.

    The estimated value of the items is $123.


  • Theft: A woman reported Thursday the theft of her purse from Lot 44 on January 29, University police said. The incident occurred during the Smashing Pumpkins concert Wednesday at the Bryce Jordan Center, police said.

    The estimated value of the purse and its contents is $100.


  • Theft: A University student reported Thursday the theft of his backpack from the Intramural Building on Wednesday, University police said.

    The estimated loss is unknown.
