Single-engine aircraft reported missing from University airport
A single-engine light aircraft disappeared late Saturday afternoon
or early Saturday evening after departing from University Park
Airport, 2535 Fox Hill Rd., the Civil Air Patrol said.
The plane, which University Police Services said was bound for
Elmira, N.Y., never arrived at the airport and was still missing
as of last night.
The Air Force Rescue Center in Langley, Md., prepared for an early
morning search, University police said.
It is not known how many passengers were on the plane and the
Civil Air Patrol has not yet determined whether the plane crashed.
Bob Dannaker, manager of the University Park Airport, had no additional
information on the plane's whereabouts.
The Saturday plane disappearance is the second incident to affect
University Park Airport within a week. A small plane crash-landed
at the airport last week when the flight controls that raise and
lower the nose of the plane malfunctioned.
Neither of the two passengers were injured.
