Armed robber accosts workers

An armed robber overstepped the bounds of hospitality at Hoss's Steak and Sea House, 1450 N. Atherton St., shortly before midnight Monday.

A man armed with a dark gray semiautomatic pistol accosted an assistant manager and another employee as they were leaving the restaurant, the Ferguson Township Police Department said.

The suspect forced the employees back inside and ordered the assistant manager to open the safe. The suspect took money from the safe and was last seen fleeing the rear of the business on foot, police said.

Police describe the suspect as a white male, between 5 feet-nine inches and 5 feet-10 inches tall. He was wearing a lightweight tan jacket and dark-colored pants, possibly jeans. His face was covered by a dark-colored ski mask with eye and mouth holes. He was wearing dark-colored gloves and a dark -- possibly red or maroon -- backpack.

Ferguson police ask anyone who might have any information on this robbery to contact them at 237-1172.
