Despite how rosy it may sound, there is the potential for a problem in the seemingly flawless situation of scoring frequently in the first game of a doubleheader.

Carey Hoyt sprinted down the runway, sprung into the air and then landed on her feet -- for a brief second -- before losing her balance and falling off to the side, accompanied by a collective gasp from the crowd.

Last night at Jeffrey Field, the Penn State men's lacrosse team got run over by the carriage carrying the Cinderella story Bucknell Bison. Bucknell, the perenial pumpkin of a program, proved it is worthy of a No. 10 ranking by beating the Lions 11-6.

Pavlik teaches rather than preaches
Most sport analysts believe that the coach must make up the psyche of the team he coaches to be successful. Mark Pavlik has done that for the Penn State men's volleyball team. But not by screaming down the throat of players, or not be scaring them to death. Just as calm and collected as talking to the official, he does it with intelligence, hard work, and more importantly, class.

The Penn State softball team must hate playing at Lady Lion field. Check the numbers: 0-5 going into yesterday's doubleheader against Michigan State, but the worst statistic of all is these losses occurred against Big Ten foes.

The Nittany Lion basketball team has received a commitment from Titus Ivory, a point guard from Charlotte, N.C., who spent last season at Phillips Academy, a preparatory school in Andover, Mass.
