A new setter was still adjusting to his role on the team and the men's volleyball team waited with anticipation for the season to get better. Lady ruggers stung by club team, 27-0 First they had trouble getting to the field. And then there wasn't enough time for pregame warmups. As a result, the Lady Ruggers dropped their first game of the spring season, 27-0, to the Maryland Stingers. Lady laxers split weekend pair During the Penn State women's lacrosse team's loss on Wednesday, the team felt that it didn't take enough shots. Saturday, the Lady Lions thought they took too many bad ones. But yesterday, the team was finally happy with its efforts. And in all three games, the sentiments proved to be right on the scoreboard. Netmen nearly sleepwalk over Eagles The Penn State men's tennis team overslept a little late this past Saturday morning, but opened its eyes in time to avoid being rudely awakened by the Eastern Michigan Eagles at the Penn State Tennis Club. Senior stars shine through Even before the Friday night meet against Michigan and Army, the faces of the Penn State gymnastics team showed that it was ready for a big night. At the end of the evening, the Lions proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that they had put their past frustrations aside and were looking forward to the upcoming Big Ten Championships. Gymwomen unable to harvest home win The only word women's gymnastics coach Steve Shephard could come up with was "frustrating." After a promising beginning, he watched his team lose an edge Saturday as Penn State recorded its only home loss of the season. The graduate of State College Area High School returned home for the first time Saturday, as she and her Nebraska teammates defeated Penn State and West Virginia at Rec Hall. Wood, Pansy end Lion careers Two distinguished men's gymnasts made their last appearances at Rec Hall Friday night. Seniors Brandy Wood and Tony Pansy closed out their careers by helping the Nittany Lions to victory one last time in front of the home crowd. Home opener proves laxers' skill The Nittany Lion lacrosse team knows that when it plays a top-10 team, which doesn't happen very often, it must make a good showing. First time's a charm for freshman goalie As Penn State freshman goalie Kevin Keenan's name was announced at yesterday's lacrosse game against Georgetown, a Hoya player's voice rose above the others, "Let's test this kid."
