Pat Buchanan wins primary Commentator Pat Buchanan scored a close victory in the nation's first presidential primary yesterday with 27 percent of the vote, edging Sen. Bob Dole, R-Kansas, who had 26 percent with 97 percent of New Hampshire's precincts reporting. Former Tennessee Gov.
