Trackmen's opener auspicious
The men's indoor track team started off its season in a fairly successful fashion at the Princeton Relays. The weekend-long event started on Friday with a pentathlon. Sophomore James Cook finished second overall while qualifying for the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America meet. Cook finished behind 1992 Olympian Aric Long.

All Minnesota's athletic program wanted for Christmas was Illinois women's volleyball head coach, Mike Hebert, to be the new Golden Gopher women's volleyball head coach -- and Santa delivered.
