Consecutive losses to the Pittsburgh Angels were reason enough for the women's rugby club to be wary of its opponent. But the fear subsided as the Lady Ruggers' "A" side prepared for the Angels, a women's non-collegiate club. The Angels were scheduled as a stepping stone to the national championships.

Lady laxer scores two on 20th birthday
Women's lacrosse attacker Amy Carnaggio's two-goal performance on Saturday against Delaware held special meaning. That's because Saturday was Carnaggio's 20th birthday.

In the Penn State softball team's first four home games of the season, the Lady Lions' two victories have been by one run, both courtesy of a last-inning rally.

Sluggers, Spartans split series
Behind the sizzling bat of first baseman Phil Bertolotti and the strong pitching of Tom Billek, the Penn State baseball team (11-17-1, 4-4 Big Ten) swept a doubleheader from Michigan State yesterday to leave East Lansing with a split of its four-game weekend series against the Spartans (12-9, 5-3).

Pep pushes lady laxers
At the end of the first half on Saturday, the women's lacrosse team trailed Delaware 5-3.

During halftime, the Lady Lions received a wake-up call from Assistant Coach Mary Ann Foley. That speech worked its magic, as No. 8 Penn State (4-3) scored eight goals on the way to an 11-8 victory against No. 11 Delaware (5-4) at Lady Lion Field.

Laxer scores twice in pinch to seal win
When Penn State men's lacrosse player Mike Busza was a freshman, he scored the game-winning goal against Maryland-Baltimore County. This weekend, he and his teammates again faced the Golden Retrievers in Baltimore.
