Dover man arrested for making alleged threats
By JAMES KWASNIK
A Dover man who allegedly threatened to kill his girlfriend and who ran away from State College police was apprehended by the State College Police Department yesterday.
Duane E. Ishler, 20, of Dover, Pa., is charged with terroristic threats, harassment, stalking, harassment by communications or address, and escape, according to court records.
Joanna M. Green of 411 Waupelani Drive reported Wednesday that Ishler allegedly kicked her in the back after an argument about Ishler's alleged drinking problem, State College police said.
Green also told police that after she returned home, Ishler allegedly made harassing telephone calls and threatened to kill her with a knife.
According to court records, Ishler allegedly made the following threats --"You're dead, bitch!. . .you hurt me and I've got a knife!. . . I'm going to kill you and everyone else in the house!. . . I'm going to rip your side open!. . . At 6 or 7 I'm going to come. Have the police there if you don't want to get slaughtered."
While driving Green and her sister back to their apartment, an officer observed two men in a lot outside of Green's apartment, police said.
Green then identified Ishler, who was showing a knife to Fred Rohm, according to court records. The officer then officially detained both men at gunpoint, told Rohm to drop the knife and ordered both men to lie on the ground, according to court records.
Rohm complied and later said that Ishler told Rohm he was "going to kill them" and pointed to Green's apartment, according to court records.
After Ishler began running, the officer pursued him for a short distance and then returned to the incident scene to ensure Green's safety, police said.
Police had a warrant out for Ishler's arrest for an incident on Feb. 8 when Ishler allegedly hit Green and broke her nose, according to court records.
Ishler was arraigned in front of District Justice Clifford Yorks yesterday and is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bail for the incident yesterday as well as a $10,000 bail for the previous incident, according to court records.
Rohm is not being charged and a preliminary hearing for both incidents will be held on April 5 at 9 a.m., police said.
