Get involved

Recently, it was brought to my attention that student apathy exists predominantly in all Penn State campuses, as well as at other colleges. Lack of student involvement in sporting, recreational and club activities is leading to a decline of these very activities, which are provided to enhance your educational experience and to relieve academic stress and anxiety, as well as to provide rewards for active participation. Students often complain, "There's nothing to do," or "Why should I get involved, I'll be gone next year!"

The answer to the latter is simple: "To leave a legacy, a tradition, an inheritance, or just a little part of yourself!" Had the late Frank Lloyd Wright, architect, felt the way most students do, we would not have the very beautiful Falling Water, here in the Pittsburgh area, left behind for all of us to enjoy! Should the administration consider making their next budget cut in the area of student activities because of lack of interest or involvement? Whether you are here or not next year, whether you think you count or not, BELIEVE that YOU, each and everyone of you, are important! Don't be afraid or apathetic. Join the ranks of those who made this country great! Leave a legacy, a tradition, or just a little part of yourself.
