Police Log

  • Woman collides with University student's vehicle: A two car accident at the intersection of Park Avenue and Shortlidge Road yesterday evening resulted in a woman being taken to the hospital, the State College Police Department said.

    A vehicle operated by Jean M. Doran of Howard was traveling east on Park Avenue when she collided with another vehicle operated by Michael E. Chaplin of 405 Snyder, police said.

    Doran failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for driving under the influence, police said. She was then taken to Centre Community Hospital for neck pain and for an alcohol test, police said. Her blood alcohol content was .174 percent.

    She was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

    Chaplin did not sustain any injuries, police said.

  • Burglary/Theft: A University employee reported Friday that several individuals took a compact disc player, about 30 compact discs and a set of textbooks from 151 A Hammond, University Police Services said.

    The items are worth $600.

  • Theft: A student reported Friday that her stereo was stolen from her car while it was parked in the HUB parking deck, University police said.

    The stereo is worth $250.

State College police are located at 243 S. Allen St. in the Municipal Building.

University police are located in the Eisenhower Parking Garage on campus.
