Letter to the Editor
Freedom without fear of intolerance
I, like most people who submit letters to the editor, usually write them only when I read something I don't like. However, this time it's completely the opposite. I wish to congratulate the Collegian and reporters Michele DiGiacinto and Michele Marchetti for their fine articles, appearing in the Collegian of Monday, March 20, on modern Pagan religions. Though as with any newspaper article on a subject one is intimately connected with, I found a few minor inaccuracies, it was wonderful to see our sincerely held belief system receive such positive press coverage, unbiased by the mistaken views that society often has of us. I would like to add just one point. Readers, please remember that we who follow modern Pagan belief systems are just as sincere about our spiritual views, our relationship with divinity, as is anyone who follows a more widespread religion. We do not seek to impose our views on anyone, we wish only the freedom to practice our religion without fear of intolerance or discrimination. It is through education that intolerance is best confronted, and your articles on Paganism are a large and very much appreciated step in that direction for the Penn State community.
