University employee charged with theft: An Office of the Physical Plant employee was charged with theft and receiving stolen property yesterday, University Police Services said.
Thomas Stoner, 33, of Centre Hall allegedly stole 1,162 pounds of copper from the Office of the Physical Plant between January and February, police said.
The copper is worth $988.
A plant employee reported the incident.
Police are not releasing how the copper was stolen.
If convicted, Stoner faces a maximum $10,000 fine and up to five years in prison, police said.

Automobile accident results in injuries: A Bellefonte man was taken to Centre Community Hospital for minor injuries yesterday after he was involved in a two-vehicle accident on the corner of Calder Way and South Fraser Street.
Raymond F. Zimberlin, Jr. of Duncansville was traveling west on Calder Way when he pulled out from the intersection and drove his vehicle into the path of Bryan Schreffler of Bellefonte, the State College Police Department said.
Schreffler was taken to the hospital and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Burglary: A burglar alarm went off at Eddie's Bicycles and Sport Equipment, 480 E. College Ave., yesterday after the shop's large store window was broken, the State College Police Department said.
Police said two mountain bicycles were stolen from the shop.
A baseball bat or other similar object appears to have broken the window, police said.
Police said they have no suspects.
One bicycle is worth $600 and the other bicycle is worth $3,000.

Criminal Mischief: A University employee reported Wednesday that someone scratched swastikas on the first-floor men's restroom in Findlay Commons between Feb. 21 and 22, University Police Services said.
The value of the damage is unknown.

Theft/Theft of Service: A Ritner Hall resident reported Wednesday that a male acquaintance, not affliated with the University, may have stolen her credit card from her room while visiting her between Feb. 9 and 12, University police said.
The suspect also allegedly charged unauthorized telephone calls while staying with her.
The loss to date is $318.57.
