Members of the Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Student Alliance held elections for political and social co-directors last night at the Paul Robeson Cultural Center.
Political Chair Ephraim Lopez (freshman-communications) was elected for the male political co-director position.
Despite the election of Lopez as a political co-director, the female co-director position was left unfilled. One candidate was seeking the co-director position, but the majority of LGBSA members decided to look for other candidates to fill the position.
"The organization is attempting to vote responsibly. The fact that someone was not voted into a position is representative of the fact that the membership felt that the incumbent's work was not satisfactory," said Gus Scheerbaum (senior-civil engineering).
The positions of social/educational co-directors were filled by Catharine Buck (junior-women's studies) and Michael Brenchley (junior-English).
Although the organization left positions vacant, Greg Shutt (junior-communication disorders) was pleased with the outcome.
"The organization is not settling for less by leaving a position open for co-director, which is a very important position in this organization," Shutt said.
