CCSG petitions for state appropriations
The Council of Commonwealth Student Governments accepted a revised version of a petition last weekend opposing decreased state appropriations to the University with a standing round of applause.

President-elect first to live on campus in 39 years
HERSHEY -- University President-elect Graham Spanier may be the first to do many things when he takes the reins at Penn State, starting when he and his family move into a new residence on campus.

New West Campus building funded
HERSHEY -- Students in the College of Engineering may have to walk a lot farther to get to class as the University continues to develop the new West Campus.

Room, board rates increase
HERSHEY -- Students living on campus or buying meal plans next year will have to fork over more money as the University Board of Trustees approved an increase in the room and board rate at the meeting Saturday.

CCSG plans on working together
The focus of the Council of Commonwealth Student Governments meeting this weekend was empowering students and working together to take the initiative in matters affecting them.

Pastor Ray Goss believes that two types of Pagans exist -- those who do not believe that the Bible is the word of God and those who have never had the opportunity to learn about "the word" by an educated person.

Following an emotional 4-3 win over Pennsylvania on Saturday, Men's Tennis Coach Jan Bortner said he was worried how his team would react yesterday in its match against Duquesne.

Purdue solid in win
Boilermaker freshman Hally Cohen described her team as having amazing comraderie. This became apparent to the Lady Lion tennis team (1-2, 0-2 Big Ten) as Purdue (7-4, 1-0) pulled together with a 7-2 win yesterday at the Penn State Tennis Center.

Gymnast Cooper comes back
Men's gymnast Mark Cooper made a triumphant return from injury Saturday night in the Lions victory over Brigham Young and Army.

Four boxers qualify for nationals
Four Penn State boxers punched tickets to Colorado Springs, Colo., with victories in the finals of the National Collegiate Boxing Association's Northeast Regionals on Saturday at the White Building gymnasium.

Lady laxers lose another
Lady Lion attacker Suzanne Weinberg suffered a slash to the face from a James Madison player while struggling for possession of the ball midway through the second half of the women's lacrosse game on Saturday.

McCoy's win streak ends
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Kerry McCoy's smile had returned by Saturday afternoon. He stood at the edge of the mat signing autographs for young wrestling fans, just as he had the day before.

Swimwomen's results vary
Perhaps it is only fitting that a Lady Lion swimming team made up of a mixture of swimmers from all four academic classes had mixed results at the NCAA championships over the weekend.

JMU's confidence key to lady laxer defeat
Entering Saturday's matchup, the Penn State women's lacrosse team led the all-time series against James Madison 13-2. But the Lady Dukes were motivated to defeat the Lady Lions.

Streak snapped
The men's lacrosse team's 15-10 win on Saturday at No. 6 Towson State did more than snap the Lions' eight-game losing streak against the Tigers.

Depleted gymwomen take last
The Lady Lion gymnastics team didn't think that injuries would prevent it from winning. In fact, they knew injuries would create a problem.

Grappler Hughes wins NCAA title
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Last December, it seemed impossible. In February, it was unlikely at best. Saturday, it became reality.

Gymmen stay No. 1
Gymnast Roy Malka does not eagerly await the posting of his scores at the conclusion of a performance. Not even when his vault execution garners him a 9.7, as it did in Saturday night's tri-meet with Army and Brigham Young in Rec Hall.

Wolfpack pushes lady cagers out
Tammy Gibson had struggled all day.

Wild ride finishes with high emotion
