GOP will restore sanity to U.S. politics
Consistently wrong. These two words best describe every exclusively Democratic policy initiative initiated in our lifetime. Can anyone refute this? These two words also best describe the Collegian's continuing rant against the Contract with America, the Republican's bold plan to undo all the damage the Democrats have done since the welfare state arose under Franklin D. Roosevelt. The problem with the Democrats is that they are obsolete. This is because the "Party of Change" is unable to grasp the concept of dynamics. Question: What's the best way to soak the rich? Lower the capital gains tax rate. Why? In 1987, the rate was below 20 percent. Revenue brought in from the tax was $400 billion. As the rate was gradually increased up to near 30 percent, revenues sank to $100 billion. That's $300 billion the Democrats lost for us! Simply put, "Robin Hood" economics does not work. Republicans better soak the rich because we recognize that if a group of people (our "rich Republican friends") have got a lot of money, then it is best not to give them incentive to hoard their money by penalizing them for making a profit. Duh!! Instead of hoarding, we offer incentives to invest their money and pump needed blood into the heart of the economy for all to benefit. Only some silly socialistic class-envy itch could keep the Democrats from absorbing this fact. On to the poor. The Democrats' $2 trillion (since 1960) War on Poverty has now clearly produced a victor -- poverty. Now that the Republicans are in control of the budget for the first time since the 1950s, we are now beginning to attack the root causes of poverty -- dependency and irresponsibility. If we eliminate all programs that subsidize state dependency and leave only a minimal "safety net," then the BEHAVIOR of those who have depended on Big Brother Democrat will change. We must no longer subsidize a culture where mothers are encouraged not to marry, where education and self-empowerment are viewed as "selling out," and where racial, ethnic and sex discrimination is euphemized as "affirmative." Democrats are now bankrupt of ideas and can now only attack those who are cleaning up their mess --like our money-hating (Ha!!) journalist community. The Democrats have become the conservatives of malaise, while the Republicans are endeavoring to restore sanity to fiscal and social policy. Democrats had better start helping or get out of the way, lest they sink deeper into historical irrelevancy.
