A University student sits in jail because he failed to appear for his preliminary hearing.
Sean A. Rodriguez of 206 Geary was arrested yesterday afternoon after he failed to show up for his preliminary hearing on one count of marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, said University Police Services Supervisor Clifford Lutz.
Rodriguez is currently being held in the Centre County Jail on $1,000 bond, Lutz said.
Rodriguez and police made arrangements for Rodriguez to turn himself in yesterday morning. Lutz said that when he failed to show, police called Rodriguez to tell him they were coming with the warrant for his arrest. Rodriguez told police he would come to the station on his own, Lutz added.
The first perliminary hearing was scheduled for March 8, Lutz said, adding that another hearing is scheduled for March 22.
Rodriguez was arrested last December on drug charges.
