Preliminary hearings

A 19-year-old University student was ordered to stand trial by District Justice Robert Shoff on charges of false imprisonment, aggravated assault, simple assault and prohibited offensive weapon.

Juan Villarreal allegedly confined, terrorized and threatened to kill two male residents of Snyder Hall on Feb. 26, according to court documents.

Villarreal allegedly inflicted injuries to the men with a knife, according to court documents. The men were treated and released from Centre Community Hospital.

Also before Schoff, a 30-year-old Bellefonte woman was ordered to stand trial on charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Catherine L. Beck allegedly took about $33,000 during the past year from the Autoport Motel and Restaurant on Business Route 322, where she worked, according to court documents.
