Induction ceremony held for incoming PHC officers

Last night in the Pollock Commons Gold Room, the Panhellenic Council inducted its 1995-96 executive board. Outgoing officers were honored and congratulated as incoming executive members, elected Jan. 30 or appointed by PHC, were given control of the council.

Kati Wiggins, the new PHC president, said she is ready to take on the responsibility with her new executive board.

"I think we're very strong and have a lot to offer so I'm very excited," she said.

Other elected officers who were inducted were Executive Vice President Susannah Spellman from Sigma Kappa sorority, 2 Stone, and Administrative Vice President Kathryn Jakuc from Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, 108 Cooper. Tracy Greca, a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, 10 Wolf, was inducted as secretary/treasurer.

Appointed officers inducted included Vice President of Standards Suzy Ciccotto from Delta Delta Delta sorority, 108 Cross, and Vice President of Programming Michelle Thaxton from Alpha Xi Delta sorority, 13 Wolf. Also inducted were Vice President of Relations Connie Prinios from Gamma Phi Beta sorority, 108 Haller, and Vice President of Membership Ahren Astudillo from Chi Omega sorority, 101 Haller.

A candle-lighting and pledge ceremony finalized the transition, as the old executive board gave control to the new officers.

Outgoing PHC President Melissa Schwartzman said she enjoyed her experience with PHC.

"I can't even express or explain how much Panhellenic has done for me," she said. "I'm very proud of my exec."

Schwartzman was also proud as Rick Funk, Greek Life coordinator, presented PHC with the Excellence in Rush Booklets award from the National Panhellenic Editors Conference. PHC was also awarded the Scholarship award and the Overall Panhellenic Excellence award from the Northeast Panhellenic Conference.
