Two University students were stabbed after being held at knife-point for several hours by another student in their East Halls room early yesterday morning, University Police Services said.

Two try to run officer off road
Two individuals were arrested Saturday after trying to run an off-duty police officer off of Linden Hall Road, the State College Police Department said.

Student, resident injured in accident
A traffic accident left a University student in the hospital, a State College man injured and five vehicles damaged, the State College Police Department said.

With the national championship looming on the horizon, several Icers stepped into a void that needed to be filled. They resumed the role they thought they should be playing.

Swimmen better conference finish
Before the Big Ten championships, Swimming Coach Peter Brown said it was going to be a challenge to improve last season's ninth-place finish. The Penn State swimmers and divers were up to that challenge.

Senior Carla Coleman was the first to climb the ladder under the basket at the east end of the floor. Eventually, the rest of the Lady Lions would make their way up that ladder to snip off a piece of the net.

Hoosiers rally for win over cagers
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- For the first 15 minutes of their game at Indiana on Saturday, the members of the men's basketball team seemed to have forgotten who they were playing and where.

Gymnasts root each other on in double-dual meet at Rec Hall
Between vaulters, the Lady Lion gymnasts turned their attention to the Lions, who were performing their floor exercises just yards away. Junior Bridget Foley cheered on junior Brandy Wood while waiting for her teammates to vault.

Spikers win tourney without co-captain
The men's volleyball team captured its fourth Golden Dome championship with ease Saturday afternoon, defeating host Rutgers-Newark (9-15, 15-12, 15-4, 15-9) to improve its winning streak to eight games.

Late laxer goal finishes off Irish
Mike O'Keefe caught the ball in the middle of the field, about 20 feet from the goal. A defender was on his left, so he faked right before coming back left and firing a shot toward the goal.

Lady sluggers win 3, drop 2
Two weeks ago, the Penn State softball team faced Robert Morris in Holuba Hall for two six-inning scrimmages. The Lady Lions handled the Colonials, winning 2-0 and 4-2.

Gymnast Cooper works to overcome knee injury
He cheered for his team on Saturday even though he wanted to be out on the floor competing in the Lions 228.95-218.65 shellacking of Michigan State.

Spartans' mistakes prevent comeback
After Penn State's men's gymnastics team grabbed an early lead, Michigan State found it hard to come back last Saturday, losing 228.95-218.65. Spartan Coach Rick Atkinson was very disappointed with the outcome of the meet.

Seniors take last home meet
A sign hung over the railing at Rec Hall on the east side of the bleachers on Saturday: "Penn State Gymnastics 1992-1995. Thanks for the wonderful memories. 'Special K's -- Karen, Kerry, & Kerner.' We'll miss you."

Boxers readying for qualifiers
The Penn State Boxing Club, preparing for the Eastern Collegiate Boxing Association's Northeast Regional Qualifiers, took three out of five bouts at the annual Virginia Military Institute "Keydet" Invitational last weekend in Lexington, Va.

Paterno's son joins coaching squad
Next fall, the Penn State football sidelines will be home to two Paternos -- Coach Joe Paterno and his son, Jay.

Sluggers still winless; drop a trio at ODU
The Nittany Lion baseball team, one of the nation's top defensive squads a year ago, committed seven errors yesterday, leading to six unearned Old Dominion runs and a 7-4 defeat. The loss completed a weekend sweep for the Monarchs (8-1) and marked the second straight winless weekend for the Nittany Lions (0-6).

Track teams last at Big Tens
The men's and women's indoor track teams both finished in tenth place out of ten teams at the Big Ten Championships this weekend.
