  • Man finds gun, shoots self in hand: A man reported yesterday that he found a gun on the 400 block of Railroad Avenue and shot himself in the hand with it, the State College Police Department said.

    Abel Amokos of 529 W. College Ave. found a .25-caliber semiautomatic pistol while he was walking along Railroad Avenue, police said.

    Police said Amokos thought the safety was on, pointed the gun at his palm and pulled the trigger of the gun. The bullet punctured his left hand.

    Amokos then drove himself to Centre Community Hospital and was treated for his self-inflicted injuries and was released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

  • Simple Assault: James Wilson of 219 Waupelani Dr. was arrested Saturday after he allegedly assaulted his roommate with a hockey stick, State College police said.

    Wilson allegedly struck Jennifer Curry also of 219 Waupelani Dr. in the head, police said, adding that Curry was taken to Centre Community Hospital where she was treated and released.

    Wilson was arraigned before District Justice Robert Shoff and charged with simple assault and harassment, police said. He is being held in Centre Community Prison in lieu of $2,000 bail.

  • Theft: A staff member at Fenske Laboratory reported Friday that someone removed a laptop computer from 230 Fenske, University police said.

    The computer is worth $2,600.

  • Theft: Ingemar Bonsell of Erie reported Saturday that his camera, gold watch, radar detector, dart case and several darts were stolen from his vehicle Saturday while it was parked at 825 S. Allen St., State College police said.

    The items are worth $711.

University police are located in the Eisenhower Parking Garage on campus.
