A traffic accident left a University student in the hospital, a State College man injured and five vehicles damaged, the State College Police Department said.
Brian D. Opp of 277 Woodland Dr. was backing out of his driveway when Karen O'Brien of 349 W. Clinton Ave. failed to stop due to ice and struck him, police said.
Both O'Brien and Opp then got out of their vehicles to asses the damages when Christopher Lehman of Huntingdon struck O'Brien, the vehicle she was operating, a parked vehicle owned by Matthew Stephens of Harrisburg, Clay Robson of 277 Woodland Dr. and finally a parked vehicle owned by Mark Drew of Emerson, NJ, police said.
O'Brien and Robson were taken to Centre Community Hospital and when O'Brien was stabalized she was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, police said.
A passenger in the vehicle Lehman was driving said that he and Lehman had been drinking prior to the incident, police said. When Lehman had a blood test it was determined that his blood alcohol level was .147, police said.
Police said the investigation is continuing and that Lehman was charged with driving under the influence.
