Hootie, Toad to perform

The University Concert Committee announced yesterday that Hootie and the Blowfish and Toad the Wet Sprocket will perform in Rec Hall on Tuesday, April 4. The musical mirth will begin at 8 p.m.

Ken Kubala, manager of City Lights Records, 316 E. College Ave., said he thinks the $18 ticket price is a little steep, but both acts are big draws right now.

"Hootie and the Blowfish has been the hottest thing," Kubala said. UCC is "definitely going for the college market," he added.

Tickets will be available beginning Thursday, March 16, for University I.D. holders, and Friday, March 17 for the general public. Purchases can be made at Eisenhower Auditorium box office, Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. They will also be available at Schwab Auditorium box office beginning March 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is a six ticket maximum.

Paul Canis, a clerk at Blue Train Compact Disc, 418 E. College Ave., is also pleased with the show.

"I think it's fantastic," he said.

Without acts like this playing State College, "we are stuck in the middle of nowhere," Canis said.
