Bulletproof Cupid

Healthy lovin' makes good lovin' even better

Jack and Jill went back to the dorm to have a little fun. But Jack wouldn't wear protection to prevent infection, so then little Jack got none.

Today marks the first day of the University-sponsored annual Healthy Loving Week -- a week to learn more about making safe sex fun and to make students more aware of sexual relations at the University.

Although only one week of the year is designated to raise safe-sex awareness, it is important that the spirit of healthy loving be practiced throughout the year.

According to the Women's Health Center, one out of six people on this campus has a sexually transmitted disease. The AIDS Project of Centre County presently handles 90 HIV-positive cases, and about 50 percent of those cases involve the University community.

With risks like those being so prevalent, safe sex is a necessity.

There is no excuse for not practicing safe sex. Male and female condoms are available along with an array of other contraceptives on campus and downtown. Students can buy five condoms for $1 at the Condom Co-op held every Monday and Thursday in Pollock Lounge.

So choose your protection and enjoy this Valentine's Day with some healthy loving.
