Man sustains back injuries in car crash: A State College man sustained back injuries after his brakes failed yesterday morning.
Robert C. Myers of 452 Gerald St. was driving south down Gerald Street when his brakes failed at the College Avenue intersection, the State College Police Department said.
When Myers pulled his emergency brake, police said, his car veered to the left and caused him to travel east on West College Avenue. He collided with another vehicle, driven by Kathryn J. Barnett of Bellefonte, before coming to a stop, State College police said.
Police said Myers was taken to Centre Community Hospital, treated for back pain and released. Barnett was uninjured, police said.

Criminal Mischief/Disorderly Conduct/Liquor Law Violation/Public Drunkenness/Harassment: A University employee reported a person punched out a window at the Nittany Lion Inn, 200 W. Park Ave., early Sunday morning and then harassed an employee, University Police Services said.
After a brief chase on foot, Cleavon McNeal of 528 Linden Road was apprehended and received five citations, University police said.

Theft: Joshua Ritti of 200 E. Beaver Ave. reported a compact disc player, tape player, receiver and speaker were stolen from Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, 200 E. Beaver Ave., Sunday morning, State College police said.
The equipment is worth $1,500.
