PHC nominates new candidates

The Panhellenic Council finished nominating candidates for four elected positions -- PHC president, executive vice president, administrative vice president and secretary/treasurer. Nominations opened Jan. 9 and closed Monday night.

The only nomination for PHC president was Kati Wiggins (junior-human development and family studies) who is a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, 101 Hibbs.

Three women were nominated for executive vice president. Susannah Spellman (sophomore-communications), member of Sigma Kappa sorority, 2 Stone, and Michelle Thaxton (sophomore-speech communication), member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, 13 Wolf, were nominated on the first night. Andrea Patterson (junior-administration of justice), member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, 3 Stone, was nominated for executive vice president Monday night.

Nancy Cho (junior-marketing) of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, 2 Hastings Hall, and Kathryn Jakuc (junior-cell and molecular biology) of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, 108 Cooper, were nominated for administrative vice president.

The only nomination for the position of secretary/treasurer was for Tracy Greca (sophomore-international business and accounting), a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, 10 Wolf.

PHC President Melissa Schwartzman is confident about the nominations and the candidates.

"All of the candidates are wonderful and they have a lot of good things to offer. Everybody is very qualified," she said.

Each candidate gave a short, informal speech to the PHC on the night of their nomination. Elections will be held at 6 p.m. on Jan. 30 in the HUB.
