This letter is written in response to the continually biased reporting printed in your publication.

Local apartment owners and managers seem to always be the target of sensationalized articles which, regardless of the facts, are manipulated to make our profession appear uncaring and derelict of our responsibilities. It doesn't seem to matter how wrong residents may be, that we abide by the lease to which all parties agree, that a few apartment dwellers choose to deliberately damage our properties and that we promptly repair or replace those damaged items, we get blasted in a "tabloid-like" article that seems to condone such damage.

What about the underlying principle here, respect! A.W. & Sons makes an all-out effort to provide the best for its residents, and most of our residents appreciate that and the fact that the property they are leasing is not theirs. The individuals who subscribe to that theory make the best possible residents.

There are unfortunately those who view their rent as a "license to destroy" and take objection to the fact that repairs are made mid-lease, because "if it breaks again" or those "2-foot holes reappear" they will get charged again. Good thinking! How about taking responsiblity to make sure it doesn't happen again, or better yet, that it doesn't happen in the first place.

Perhaps the Collegian would be better served to initially take a neutral position and at least try to see a property owner's point of view. Then, after truly and honestly weighing the facts and fully exploring all issues, print an unbiased article.

In the case of the residents involved in this controversy that the Collegian stirred up, if these individuals would have simply respected the property of others, like 95.4 percent of our other residents do, they would not need your journalism to defend their destructive nature.
