OK, so you're in your dorm room, just thinking. Sitting and thinking. There's Campus Casino 20 minutes away. You could rearrange your CD's, you know, think about who should come first: the Breeders or the Pixies. You could join the game of hall Frisbee. You could contemplate whether Ricki Lake's fur protest with PETA really was a publicity stunt.
How does one twiddle the hours away between classes? Luckily, the University has some answers at the Student Involvement Fair being held today in the HUB Fishbowl and HUB Ballroom (depending on how many people show up). Offering up a smorgasbord of clubs and social service groups, it is the one major chance to get a life on and off campus.
In addition to typical college groups all students are familiar with, there are a variety of smaller, tailor-made clubs outside of the mainstream activities. Marcia Brady only had ceramics, yoga, karate and scuba to choose from. But at Penn State, new groups crop up every semester, providing a chance for students to meet new people and maybe even discover a latent talent.
The fair has more than your average litter of activities. With tables for groups such as Allies and Men Against Rape, the Student Involvement Fair is a chance for you to diversify and expand your mind. To quote James Brown, "Get up, get into it, get involved."
