USG Senate approves students for positions
Six positions filled at last night's meeting

Six students were approved by senators to various positions during the Undergraduate Student Government Senate meeting last night.

After interviews were conducted by the Senate Appointment Review Board four election commissioners, one Student Organization Budget Committee (SOBC) representative and one Supreme Court associate justice were confirmed.

Every year a new election commission is appointed by the USG president and approved by the senate. This year all commissioners hope to have a fair election this March.

"We will make group decisions and work as a commission instead of commissioners," said Steve Castor, head commissioner.

Castor was among the four commissioners to be approved last night. The others include -- Ben Ehrhart, the assistant candidacy and campaigning commissioner; Seth Hall, the assistant commissioner of voting and tallying; Robin Jaffe, assistant publicity and debate commissioner.

When asked about improvements to the elections, Ehrhart's ideas seemed to be the concensus from last year's ideas.

"(One improvement) is to be completely open with the Collegian and schedule meetings with them -- everything is public knowledge," he said.

All commissioners have been actively involved in many university clubs and organizations, such as greek life and student government.

The SOBC position was filled by Corey Gesford. His goal is to be impartial when allocating funds to student organizations. USG has three seats on SOBC, next week another appointment of a representative is expected.

Freshman Jennifer Ju will be one of the new supreme court associate justices.

In other senate business, Brian Bennett, town senator, resigned due to personal reasons.

USG President Mike King and Vice President Lori Pennay also gave a report on their progress of their campaign promises.
