Coming to college brings many changes and opportunities for young, eager freshmen. There are clubs, athletics and, of course, academics, which allow students to search for their niche on a diverse college campus like Penn State.

Joe O'Connell has seen drivers' licenses from almost all 50 states, but he said none compare to the new Pennsylvania driver's license.

Four Port Matilda residents --two adults and two children --were killed in an automobile accident on state Route 220 Wednesday afternoon, the Philipsburg State Police said.

Noise levels in some College Township areas exceed the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's threshold for noise mitigation, according to the Centre County Regional Traffic Study.

The State College Centre Regional Planning Commission recommended amending a zoning ordinance that would allow bed and breakfast establishments in multi-family residential districts at its meeting last night.

Building a solid rivalry usually takes time. But the American Collegiate Hockey Association's No. 1 Icers (12-3-1) and No. 4 Illinois (14-5-1) have gotten to know each other rather quickly this season.

After crashing and burning in a 71-56 upset loss at Minnesota last Friday, the No. 12 women's basketball team almost went down again on the way home.

It didn't even cross his mind three years ago.

The possibility of being dismissed from Ohio State was not something Men's Basketball Coach Randy Ayers thought about. And justifiably so.

For the second year in a row, Penn State earned first place in a Division I all-sports competition for the fall season.

The usual overpowering ego and heavy-lidded gangster boredom are checked at the door in the leftovers and remixes on Ice Cube's Bootlegs & B-Sides -- his classy and energetic latest release. There is not any of that usual clich doped-up, non-chalance --leaving fresh, artistic lyrics. There is little of the traditional verbal sneering and swaggering about "baggin' hos" -- giving the album a hard, clean edge.

There is no doubt that racism occurs on campuses across the country and it's refreshing to see a film, like Higher Learning, addressing this issue.

Instead of traveling to Paris or London to view pieces of famous art work, students now have the opportunity right here in State College.

When frustrated radio listeners around Centre County desperately hit the scan button with a crazed desire for musical satisfaction, they may be surprised that their dial now stops on 107.9-FM(WINK 108).
