IFC begins nominations for upcoming elections

The Interfraternity Council started the process of nomination and election of new officers last night at its first meeting of the semester.

Three positions, IFC administrative vice president, president and treasurer, will be filled after the election on Feb. 6 at Kappa Sigma fraternity, 255 Highland Ave.

Nominations and elections of new officers are crucial for the IFC, said Mike Steinberg, IFC President. "The nomination process, the whole campaign process is just extremely important."

Mike Gardner, currently the Special Events Chairman, was the only nominee for administrative vice president. If elected, two of his basic goals will involve community relations and academics.

"I always want to continue working on academics. That's extremely important," Gardner said.

The correct spelling of of Steve Carell's name is Carrel.

Two people were nominated for IFC president including Bruce Booth, current vice president of the Board of Control, and Steve Carell, current vice president of relations. Neither were available for comment.

Nobody has been nominated for treasurer yet, but nominations will be open until elections. Steinberg expressed no concern about that position. "Someone will step up for treasurer. I am not worried about that," he said.

Nominees will give speeches Jan. 23, before the February election.
